Wedding – unforgettable due to your personal video Create your own personal wedding video. With MAGIX Movie Edit pro, media from Catooh and your own redordings. This tutorial will teach you how.
Moments worth to be remembered There are moments in life that cannot be forgotten. Your own wedding surely is one of those. But even if you will always remember how you felt that day, how beautiful your partner looked to you or how happy you were that all of your friends and family members were there – there are always some details that fade in your memory. What exactly did the cake look like? And can anyone remember aunt Elisabeth and Nina singing awfully out of key?
All those small moments are as worth being remembered as the wedding itself. Good for you, when you make sure they are being filmed and photographed. Even better, when you do not just leave them in a box inside your cupboard or somewhere on your PC, but work with them. Like creating a video and special wedding DVD with them. Not only you will enjoy this, but you can surprise friends, show it to your own children or even someday to your grandchildren when they want to know how you looked back then.
Sometimes, even though you have a huge amount of photo and video material, there are some shots missing, that you would have liked to include in your video. This may be the wedding rings, the bridal bouquet or the entry into the register. In case you are missing something, you should take a look into our wedding collection. There we have brought together selected media concerning the topic wedding.
Tip: You can find more media, when you enter 'wedding' into the search mask on catooh.com.
1st step: choose material To start editing your video, you sould choose your material and roughly arrange it on an image track. You may arrange them thematically or chronologic.
2nd step: open the MovieShow Maker Subsequently, you can open the MovieShow Maker, which will automatically merge the individual shots. Of course you can merge them yourself with fades and use effects, if you already know how to do it. If not, you can let the MovieShow Maker do the preliminary work and then adjust some details afterwards. You can open it by clicking 'File' → 'MovieShow Maker' or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+M.
Now you can choose a style (we have chosen the style 'wedding' from Catooh) and adjust the effects frequency anc intensity. Click on 'Advanced' to activate or deactivate certain effects and decide, which of them should be used for your video. Mark 'Individual credits' if you want to edit your own credit text. In case you are not yet sure, you can easily change it later on, by right clicking onto the text block on the image track and opening the 'title editor'. There you can change the text, its position, the font or its color. When you are done with your settings, click 'apply style'. You will then be shown a preview of your video. If you like it, click 'Apply' to return to the editing mode.
3rd step: manually arrange the MovieShow Maker Style In case you are not satisfied with small details of the MovieShow, you can easily change them yourself. But pay attention to the fact, that you cannot just move or delete the single effects. The MovieShow Maker connects the effects with the individual shots and merges them into a group. You can see that when you click on a scene and see, that the effect also is marked red. Ungroup the images and effects, by clicking onto the 'ungroup' symbol (two separated chain links). Then you can adjust the effect or delete it.
4th step: use fades Your film will look much more flowing, when you connect the individual images with fades. Cross fades are easily created and often used by the MovieShow Maker. Just move two individual scenes together, so that they partly overlap. At the end of a scene, you can let the image fade into black, by moving the small box on the end of the image track. Of course you can go beyound those basic fades by using fade presets. Open the 'Fades' menu and then take a look at the different presets. You can watch a preview, when you click on them once. When you have chosen a fade, just click on it with the mouse and drag it onto the transition between two images. They will then be automatically connected with the fade.
5th step: integrate sound effects The MovieShow Maker automatically uses sound effects which are placed beneath some scenes. By adding further sound effects, you can make your video even more exciting. Especially a wedding offers you many possibilities for that. Ringing church bells, a wedding song, harps or a romantic heartbeat.. To find and download such sound effects, take a look into our wedding collection or enter keywords into the search mask on catooh.com.
Then place the sound effect underneath the respective scene and embed it into your film's sound by regulating the volume or adding a fade-in or fade-out to create a smooth transition. Atmospheric sounds should have a restrained volume whereas a gaudy effect sound can be somewhat louder than the background music.
6th and final step: choose a menu and burn your video on DVD When you are done editing and your film is finally completed, open 'Burn'. Then you can chose a menu design out of many different presets. Just mark the menu you like and then click 'Assign' to use it for your DVD. It will appear on the preview screen, where you will be able to do some more changes, like editing the text or changing the position of the previews. Of course we offer you thematically matching DVD menus at catooh.com.
Tip: For more information on editing DVD menus, have a look at our Father's Day tutorial.
Now you only have to burn your film on DVD and then present it.
