Create an individual photo show with intros, outros and animations Capture the prettiest moments of your family life in a video – as a photo show with a matching intro, outro and animations. This tutorial shows you how to do that.
Catooh offers you suitable media for that. We gathered some examples out of our huge range of products and put them together to a special collection:
Tip: For more animations, intros and outros, take a look into the 'Videos' category at catooh.com. Open 'Animation' and take a look at the other intros, outros and animations.
Our video example shows you, how a combination of your photos and media from Catooh could look like:
Choose the picture material To start working on your video, you should select the photos you want to use for the show. Open them via the 'Import' menu and arrange them on a picture track. It makes sense to sort them either chronological or thematical. As long as you did not choose background music, you do not have to think about the individual length of each image. This will not be important until you add animations to your show later on and adjust the length of each picture to the rhythm of the music.
Insert intro and outro When you are done selecting your footage, you can lock for a matching intro/outro. The intro is the first thing your audience will see of the film. You can introduce them to the film's topic or its atmosphere. The outro finally creates the frame for your video. You can do this in two ways. You can choose an intro/outro from our collection or one out of the category 'Animation' at catooh.com. Get connected to catooh.com out of the program by clicking '@Services' → 'Catooh – the Online Content Library' → 'Find and download media into project'. After downloading the media, you will be automatically redirected to MAGIX Movie Edit Pro by closing the download window.
Alternatively you can use one of the intros/outros that are already included in your MAGIX Movie Edit Pro. To do so, open the 'Effects' menu and then click 'Video FX' → 'Styles'. Here you find different folders with different topics. Just double click on one of the folders, to see all the elements that are in it.
Click on the elements once, to see a preview. To use an intro/outro for your show, just drag it onto the first or the last photo of your show.
The program will then assemble the individual elements into a group. You can see that by clicking on the first or last photo of your show. All elements belonging to the group will turn red then. So in case you want to change something about a single element of that group, you will first have to ungroup the elements by clicking on the symbol of the separated chain links.
Some of the intros/outros include a soundtrack. Make sure that the volume of the music in the intro/outro does not differ too much from the music in your show. Adjust the volume, if necessary, by marking the box in the middle of the audio track and moving it up or down.
Insert/adjust titles Some intros/outros also come with a title. They usually read 'Intro' or 'The End', which means that you have to adjust them to your video by inserting a different text. Just right click onto the title and open 'Title editor'.
Here you can change the font, its color and size or its position on the screen and lots more (movement, display, title presets). When you are done with your settings, click 'OK' to return to your project and apply the changes.
Using titles for a photo show makes sense, even when you are not using an intro/outro. With them, you can give the audience more information about the images. Add titles by opening the 'Titles' menu and choosing one of the presets. There are animated and static ones. Click on them once to see a preview.
To add a title to your show, just drag it onto the right position in your video. To change its length, just mark the end or beginning of the track and move it, to make it longer or shorter. All the other settings can be made in the 'Title editor'.
Choose background music Now that the rough settings are made, you can start with the fine-tuning. But before you can do that, you should pick the background music. It can highlight the individual images and turn watching your show into an interesting experience. An effect you probably would not achieve by just lining up the photos without additional music.
In case you do not already have matching music, you can visit catooh.com and open the category 'Songs'. There you will surely find something suitable. Either stroll around in the category or use the search mask. You might enter words such as 'adventure', 'happiness' or 'melancholia' - depending on what your photos express.
When you have chosen a song, you have to download it and then place it underneath your image track, after returning to MAGIX Movie Edit Pro. Now you will only have to adjust its length and probably place a fade-in or fade-out at the end or beginning of the audio track.
Add Animations Animations can help you to mark thematic or chronologic shifts and thus support the audience's orientation. We used years for our video example to point out that the photos were shot at different dates. Open the respective animations via the 'Import' menu and place them between your photos on the image track. This way, the different topics of the photos will not be confusing the audience.
Since you are using a soundtrack now, you have to take care that the images are matching the music's rhythm. When you want to create a thematic shift, it makes sense to place that on a position where the soundtrack also is making a shift ( loud → gentle, peaceful → intense and so on...).
Which kind of animation you use for your video is up to you. In case you do not have something special in mind, let our collection inspire you or look around in the category 'Videos' → 'Animation' at catooh.com.
Intro, animations, outro and of course your photos with a matching soundtrack – everything there?
Well, then congratulations to your own photo show!
