Only the best for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is coming near and with it a problem for those, who want to surprise their mother with something self-made. You surely do not want to draw a picture or craft small figurines once you are beyound a certain age. But luckily you do not need glue or cardboard to create something self-made.

Instead you can use Catooh and MAGIX Movie Edit pro 14 to create a video for your mother in almost no time and tell her everything you have always wanted to say.

Great results without much effort

After you decided how you want your video to look, you will only have to arrange the photos and video records with your MAGIX Movie Edit pro. Work with fades and effects to connect the single shots and take care they match your soundtrack, in case you decide to work with music. You can find fades and effects in the Media Pool window next to the preview screen.

3D series / Transition series

'3D series' or so called 'Transition series' are perfect for you in case you want to work with several photos. Using them, you can embed your photos in a thematic frame and spice up your video with some motion.

You can find these 'Transition series' in the 'fades' menu. Open '3D' and pick '3D series'. Some of these '3D series' are already included in your Movie Edit pro. You can find and download more of them at catooh.com by clicking 'Templates & Effects' → 'Transition series'.

Double click on the folder of your choice to see all the single segments of the 'Transition serie'. Then pick one transition and drag it onto the two photos you want to connect. Doing like this, you can use one transition after the other to connect all your photos.

Sound effects

Your video will become especially appealing when you add some sound effects to it. This will make simple fades somewhat more exciting. Many suitable sound effects can be found under 'Sounds & Fx' at catooh.com.

Place a photo at the image track, add an effect and then place a sound effect on a track underneath it. Now you will only have to make sure that the effect and the sound effect are synchronous.

Everything is done – and now?

When you are done editing your video, you have several possibilities to publish your video. You can easily burn it on DVD by opening the 'Burn' menu where you can choose a matching DVD menu.

Or you export your video as a movie file to be able to send it as an e-mail attachment or to upload it to an online album. Just click 'File' → 'Export movie' and then choose a file type.

Tip: It will be easier to send the video as an e-mail attachment when you choose a file type that takes only few disc space. That is different in case you want to burn it on DVD. Then you should choose a high resolution.

As MAGIX customer, you can create and use your own MAGIX Online Album for free. You can upload your video directly from MAGIX Movie Edit pro. Just click on the respective function in the '@Services' menu.

In case you did not already create a MAGIX Online Album, you can easily create an account by filling in the data you used to registrate at magix-online.com.

Then you can choose the quality in which you want to upload your movie (fitting for DSL or modem), create an extra folder for it or add it to an already existing one, add a short description and categorize your video. Beyound that you can choose whether you want to keep it private or show it to all visitors of your MAGIX Online Album.

After you added your video to your MAGIX Online Album, you will only have to send the URL to your mother and then present your Mother's Day surprise.
